Other workshops didn't have the time or inclination for the project.
The team at Kunath Instrumentenbau said after a moment's thought: "We'll do it!"
In the first step, the customer had chosen a recorder from Blockfloetenshop.de. The second step was to fit it with a one-hand mechanism.
To do this, the mechanism had to be redesigned to fit the selected recorder model. Tone holes were moved, keys fitted, springs fine-tuned and pads adjusted. After a few weeks of precision mechanical work, the small soprano (descant) recorder was ready to play and could be handed over to the customer.
Conclusion: The team, which weeks earlier had just completed another of the largest recorders in the world (sub-sub bass), was able to show that even small things can be great fun.
