There are two primary reasons for hoarseness in recorders:
- A swollen block or deformed windway,
- Water droplets in the windway.
Both create sensitivity and disturbance in the sound and response of the instrument, and can sometimes affect the tuning.
Hoarseness due to swelling can only be remedied in a specialist workshop.
Antikondens (anti-condensation liquid) has proven effective in reducing hoarseness caused by water droplets.
It reduces the surface tension of the droplets that condense in the windway. This allows them to flow off as a thin film that does not interfere with the sound of the instrument.
You do not necessarily have to use the Antikondens from the manufacturer of your instrument, as they are all very similar in their effect.
Küng, Antikondens, 30ml

Küng, Anticondens
Some words about the Küng, Anticondens
Kueng Antikondens is the aid designed to prevent or reduce the formation of droplets in the windway. If warming the head of the recorder before playing is not sufficient to prevent the formation of droplets in the windway, then the temporary use of Antikondens will help to reduce or completely prevent this problem typical of recorders.
Moeck, Antikondens, 25ml
